How the cold will impact insects like fleas and ticks


When it is this cold, you’d hope fleas and ticks would be killed off before we head back outside after the winter. Unfortunately, these pesky bugs might be built for the cold better than you think.

Eric Barrett, educator as the OSU Extension Office in Mahoning County, said while extreme temperatures over extended periods will help kill off some types of insects, the few frigid days we’ve had hasn’t been long enough.
